Devotees claim – Visiting Tarakeshwar Mahadev Temple fills the empty lap.
Mirzapur. Shri Tarakeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient temples in the district. This temple of Lord Shiva built on the banks of Ganga is situated near Raidani Colony in the middle of the city. Regarding the existing Mahadev temple, it is believed that it was established at the same place after the original Tarakeshwar temple merged into the Ganges.
It is believed that this temple is hundreds of years old. Devotees from far and wide come here to see and worship Lord Shiva.
There is no written history regarding the establishment of the temple. But priest Shivmangal tells that the triangle of Maa Vindhyavasini starts from here and ends here. If the devotees doing Trikon do not visit here then their Trikon is not considered successful. He told that Tarakeshwar Mahadev was present here before the descent of Ganga. This place of Mahadev is situated in the north-east corner of Vindhya mountain.
One can have a child just by seeing him.
Priest Shivmangal tells that the glory of this temple is also mentioned in Shiva Purana and Aushanas Purana. Lord Shiva blesses all the devotees who come here. Shivratri is the main festival here. Thousands of people come for darshan on this day. The most important thing is that whatever wishes the devotees have here, God fulfills them immediately just by having darshan.
