Tarsod Ganapati Temple

Tarsod Ganapati Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesha in a village Tarsod of Jalgaon district, Maharashtra.

The temple finds mentions in various scripts written about Sai Baba of Shirdi and Gajanan Maharaj. During the Maratha Empire, the region was under the jagir ruled by Nimbalkar family.

The gate of Ganapati temple is very small. Therefore, devotees have to bend down to visit the temple. The idol of Lord Ganesha is magnificent and resplendent.

History

Devotees from Nashirabad used to go to Padmalaya on Sankashti Chaturthi to have darshan of ‘Amod and Pramod’ Ganaraya. During that time Pujya Shri Gobind Maharaj was living there. He had restored the Ganpati temple at Padmalaya during the Pandava period. One day these Siddhapurushas told the devotees of Nashirabad that the full form of the Gabapati temple at Padmalaya is in the village ‘Tarsod’ near Nashirabad. After that, the devotees of the area started coming to Tarsod on Sankashta Chaturthi every month to worship Jagrut Ganaraya. Legend has it that after a few days, Pujya Shri Gobind Maharaj himself performed Mahapuja to Lord Ganesha of Tarsod.

Devotees from all over Jalgaon district flock here on Sankashta Chaturthi, Vinayak Chaturthi, Angarika Chaturthi and Ganeshotsav.

Devotees before starting any major work first visit this temple and break coconut. The newly wed couples of the district take darshan of this Ganesha and start their marriage life.
