In the Manas section of Skandapuran, this temple has been described as Sthal Kedar, which is a sacred place of worship of Lord Shiva.
Situated at an altitude of 2500 meters in the south of Pithoragarh city, one can see many picturesque views along with extreme peace near this temple.
The entire Pithoragarh city is visible from here and Gangoli Haat is also visible in the distance.
Peaks like Panchachuli, Trishul, Nanda Devi etc. are also visible from here.
Being surrounded by forests on all sides, you can see many types of animals while going up.
There are several walking routes; the easiest route leads to the temple from a little east of Badve, which is 4 kilometers long.

Thal Kedar is a revered Hindu pilgrimage site situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. Every year on the day of Maha Shivratri, a large fair is organized at Thal Kedar that gathers large number of followers here.
