Adhyatmic Stories

The mystery of Sita ji’s exile.

Share

Once Sita ji went to the palace garden with her friends for entertainment. They saw a pair of parrots sitting on a tree. Both the parrots were talking among themselves about Sita ji. One said – There is a beautiful and glorious Kumar in Ayodhya whose name is Shri Ram. Janaki will get married to him. Shri Ram will rule this earth for eleven thousand years. Sita and Ram will live happily on this earth as each other’s life partners.

When Sita ji heard her name, both of them started listening attentively to the birds. He wanted to hear more about his life. After telling her friends, she got both the birds caught. Sita ji hugged him lovingly and said- Don’t be afraid. You talk very nice things. Tell me where you got this knowledge from. There is no need to be afraid of me.

The fear of both ended. They understood that it was Sita ji herself. Both of them told that there is a Maharishi named Valmiki. They live in his ashram only. Valmiki discusses the life of Ram and Sita every day. They hear it all and it’s all memorized.

When Sita ji asked further, Shuka said – Dasharatha’s son Ram will break Shiva’s bow and Sita ji will accept him as her husband. This will be a wonderful couple in all three worlds. Sita ji kept asking and Shuka kept answering her. Both got tired. He told Sita ji that this story is very detailed. Saying that it would take many months to narrate, both of them got ready to fly.

Sita ji said- You have told about my future husband. There has been a lot of curiosity about him. Until Shri Ram comes and chooses me, you live comfortably in my palace and enjoy happiness.

Shuki said – Goddess, we are forest creatures. We live on trees and roam everywhere. I am pregnant. I have to go to the nest and give birth to my babies.

Sitaji did not agree. Shuk said- Don’t insist. When my wife gives birth to children, I myself will come and tell the rest of the story. Let us go now.

Sita ji said- If it is so then you can go but your wife will stay here. I will not let him suffer. Shuk loved his wife very much. He was not ready to go alone. Shuki also could not bear the separation from her husband. He said to Sita ji- Don’t separate me from my husband. I will curse you.

Sita ji started laughing. He said- If you want to curse then curse. What harm will happen to the princess due to the bird’s curse? Shuki cursed – Just as you are separating a pregnant woman from her husband, in the same way when you remain pregnant, you will have to bear the separation from her husband. Shuki gave up his life after cursing.

Seeing his wife dying, Shuka said in anger – To make my wife’s words come true, I will please God and be born in the city of Shri Ram and will become a medium to make my wife’s curse come true.

The same Shuka (parrot) became the washerman of Ayodhya who by making false allegations forced Shri Ram to expel Sita ji from his palace.
