Trinetra Ganesh Temple Ranthambore fort

The temple is located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan province of India, within the world heritage site Ranthambore Fort. There is something unique about the fair of Trinetra Ganesh, the darling of Ranatbhanwar, situated in the Ranthambore fort situated between the Aravali and Vindhyachal hills. This temple is a unique confluence of nature and faith. Lakhs of visitors from every corner of India come here to have darshan of Lord Trinetra Ganesha and ask for many wishes, which are fulfilled by Lord Trinetra Ganesha. This Ganesh temple was built by Maharaja Hammirdev Chauhan but the idol of Lord Ganesha inside the temple is self-contained. In this temple, Lord Ganesha is present in Trinetra form in which the third eye is considered a symbol of knowledge. This is the only temple in the whole world where Lord Ganesha is present with his complete family, two wives – Riddi and Siddi and two sons – Shubh and Labh. There are considered to be four Swayambhu Ganesh temples in India, of which Trinetra Ganesh ji located in Ranthambore is the first.Apart from this temple, Siddapur Ganesh Temple is located in Gujarat, Avantika Ganesh Temple in Ujjain and Siddapur Sihore Temple in Madhya Pradesh. It is said that Maharaja Vikramaditya, who started the calculation of Vikram Samvat, used to regularly go from Ujjain every Wednesday to visit Trinetra Ganesh ji in Ranthambore, it was he who gave him a dream darshan and got the Ganesh ji of Siddapur Sehore established.

The historically important ancient temple of Lord Ganesha is located in the world heritage Ranthambore Fort within the Ranthambore National Park, 13 kilometers from the Sawai Madhopur district headquarters. To go to this temple, one has to go to a height of about 1579 feet to see Lord Ganesha.

The circumference of Lord Trinetra Ganesha is about 7 kilometers. The distance from Khandip to Trinetra Ganesh Temple is approximately 142 kilometers.

The war between Maharaja Hammirdev Chauhan and Delhi ruler Alauddin Khilji took place in Ranthambore between 1299-1301 AD. At that time, Alauddin Khilji had surrounded the Ranthambore fort from all sides, due to the Ranthambore fort being surrounded by the Mughal army from all sides for more than nine months, the supplies in the Ranthambore fort gradually started running out, at that time Maharaja Hammirdev Chauhan saw Lord Ganesha in his dream.King Hammirdev worshiped the idol of Ganesha. According to the legend, the same Swayambhu idol worshiped by Lord Rama was manifested here by Hammirdev.
Lord Ram had anointed and worshiped this Ganesha while traveling to Lanka. Hence, in Tretayuga, this idol was established in Ranthambore in Swayambhu form and then disappeared.
According to another belief, when Lord Krishna was married to Rukmani in Dwapara Yuga, Lord Krishna accidentally forgot to call Lord Ganesha due to which Lord Ganesha got angry and ordered his mouse to go with the army of huge rats and Krishna. Dig holes in the entire earth in front of the chariot. Thus, Lord Krishna’s chariot sank into the earth and could not move forward. After being told by the rats, Lord Krishna realized his mistake and came back to Ranthambore to collect Ganesha, only then Krishna’s marriage was completed.

Since then Lord Ganesha is invited first in marriages and auspicious functions. This is the reason why Ranthambore Ganesha is called the first Ganesha of India.

third eye recognition

Trinetra Ganesha located in Ranthambore is the only Ganesha in the world who has a third eye. The third eye of Vinayaka is described in Gajavandanam Chitayam, folk belief is that Lord Shiva handed over his third eye to Saum Putra Ganapati as his successor and thus all the powers of Mahadev got vested in Gajanan.

Mahaganapati Shodsha Strautmala describes sixteen Vigraha forms of Vinayaka. Mahaganapati is very special and grand who wears Trinetra, thus it is believed that the Ranatbhanwar of Ranthambore is the form of Mahaganapati.

Lord Ganesha’s makeup

Lord Trinetra Ganesha located in Ranthambore Fort is also decorated in a special way. Lord Ganesha is decorated with silver Varak on normal days, but on Ganesh Chaturthi the Lord is decorated with gold Varak, this Varak is brought from Mumbai. The Lord is anointed with rituals for several hours and the attire of Lord Trinetra Ganesh ji is prepared in Jaipur.

In the Maha Aarti on the tableau of Lord Ganesha, white sticks of grass grown in the fort premises are used. Aarti is performed by wrapping cotton (cotton) on these sticks and dipping them in ghee.

Aarti puja in Ganesh temple

The puja is duly performed by the priest in the temple of Lord Ganesha. In this both Puranokta and Vedokta mantras are included. Five aartis are performed daily to Lord Trinetra Ganesha.

First Aarti at 07:30 am.
Second Aarti at 09:00 am. This Aarti is called Shringar Aarti of Lord Ganapati.
Third Aarti at 12:00 noon. This is called Bhog Aarti of God.
Fourth Aarti is the Aarti performed after the evening prayers.
The fifth or last Aarti takes place at 08:00 pm which is called Shayan Aarti of Lord Ganapati.
Ganesh Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Shukla is considered to have special significance for the aarti and anointment of Trinetra Ganesh ji. On this day, Mangala Aarti and Abhishek of Lord Ganesha is done at 04:00 in the morning, Aarti at 7:30, Abhishek and Shringar Aarti at 9:00, special tableau and Maha Aarti of the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha at 12:00 in the afternoon and distribution of Prasad, in the evening. Aarti and night vigil takes place in the court of God.

Roses, Mogra and other flowers on the birth table of Lord Trinetra Ganesha not only enhance its beauty, but also a garland of betel nut flowers is worn on Lord Ganesha, the flowers used in this garland for Lord Ganesha are brought from Mumbai.
