The Vijay Rajrajeshwar Temple is situated on a small island in Gaib Sagar Lake, Dungarpur. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its intricate architecture & serene surroundings. Accessible by boat, the temple is a major pilgrimage site for tourists and devotees.
Like other famed attractions of Dungapur like Srinathji and Badal Mahal, Rajrajeshwer is located on the bank of GaibSagar Lake. The construction of this one of the finest example of Rajput style temple was started by Maharawal Vijay Singh but its official consecration was done in 1923 AD by Maharawal Lakshman Singh. Highlight of the temple is the beautiful statue of Shiv Vigrah and Devi Parvati that are positioned in the sanctrum of the main temple.
The most famous shrine of Dungarpur is the Shrinathji temple located on the bank of the Gaib Sagar Lake. It is a conglomeration of several small and medium sized temples with one main temple, all massive and strongly built. The latest architectural glory in marble is the Vijay Raj Rajeshwar temple dedicated to lord Shiva. It is beautifully carved in the typical Dungarpur style. The Government Archeological Museum with its fine collection of old statues is worth a visit.
