Vimaleshwar Mandir Uttarkashi: Regarding the Vimaleshwar Mahadev Temple situated on the top of Varunavat mountain in the border district, it is believed that Lord Shiva fulfills all the wishes of the devotees who pray here with a true heart. History
It is believed in Skandapuran that Lord Parashuram had worshiped Lord Shiva on the peak of Varunavat mountain to calm his anger.
Lord Shiva was pleased with his worship and appeared before him. Then the anger of Lord Parshuram calmed down. For this, Parashuram said that Lord Shiva would be seated here in the form of Shivankshalag. From then till today the surrounding villagers also worship this place in the name of Vimleshwar Mahadev.
how to reach
The distance from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi is about 170 km. Devotees will board the bus from Dehradun and Rishikesh and reach the bus stand of Uttarkashi. Then the devotees will board taxis, Max and private vehicles from here and reach the top of Varunavat, about 12 km away. After getting down from the vehicle, you will walk just 50 meters and have darshan of Vimaleshwar Mahadev (Vimaleshwar Temple).
Pandit Diwakar Naithani says, the mythological Shivalinga of Lord Shiva has been present here since ancient times. In the month of Sawan, devotees worship Lord Shiva by doing Dugdhabhishek and Jalabhishek in this Shivalinga. By worshiping a childless couple in the month of Sawan, Lord Shiva fulfills their wishes.
