Vridha jageshwar temple is must visit place when you visit jageshwar dham. you may trek to this place from jageshwar dham temple which is 3 km long or you can reach by road which is 15 km. the divine aura here is next level. you just can’t miss view of snow clad peaks from here. People say that one should visit vridha jageshwar along the jageshwar dham to complete the yatra.

Now, the whole Kumaun is believed to be the abode of SHIVA…the Creator, and Jageshwar Dham of Almora is the 8th Jotirlingam…a must visit place to know the Shiva Mahima. VRIDH JAGESHWAR…the OLD SHIVA. Many believe this temple has more religious intonations than Jageshwar Dham itself. Vridha Jageshwar which is situated 3 km uphill from the main Jageshwar Temple Complex, is said to be the abode of SHIVA before He came down to Jageshwar…thus this temple is older than Jageshwar Dham itself. And believe me, when You will be there, the whole Himalayan Range and all round greenery will be there to greet you. The temple is small but a real jem…a marvellous creation. Legend says, this is the place where Adi Guru Shankaracharya placed His pious offerings to SHIVA and thus founded the temple.

According to folklore, the old Jageshwar temple was established due to the inspiration given by Lord Shiva in a dream to a Nepalese king… Here Lord Shiva had worshiped Lord Vishnu and offered it to him… Malpua is offered here…

It’s an ancient Shiva temple and you will Get a Perfect mountain view !!! One gets to see both the peaks of the Himalayas and the depths of the Himalayas at one place.There are temples of Kuber ji, Batuk Bhairav, and Kalika mata ji in the temple. It’s around 15 km away from Jageshwar Temple.
