What are the eight hours of the day?

The concept of time in Hindu religion has been very broad. Which is currently limited to seconds, minutes, hours, day-night, month, year, decade and century.

 

But in Hindu religion, there is an atom, Trisarenu, Error, Vedha, Lava, Nimesh, Moment, Kashtha, Laghu, Dand, Muhurta, Prahar or Yam, Day, Paksha, Month, Season, Ayana, Year (five divisions of the year – Samvatsar, Parivatsar, Idvatsar, Anuvatsar, Yugavatsar), Divine Year, Yuga, Mahayuga, Manvantara, Kalpa,

Finally, Brahma’s greater time system of one day and night, consisting of two Kalpas, is determined.

Eight Prahars: According to Hindu religion, there are eight Prahars in 24 hours including day and night. On an average, one Prahar is of three hours or seven and a half Ghatis, which consists of two Muhurtas. One Prahar is of one Ghati of 24 minutes.

A total of eight prahars including four during the day and four at night.

Four times of the day – 1.morning, 2.midday, 3.afternoon and 4.evening.

Four hours of the night – 5. Pradosh, 6. Nishith, 7. Triyama and 8. Usha.

Eight_Prahar: One prahar is of three hours.

The first phase of the day begins at sunrise, which is called morning. The second part of the day lasts until the sun reaches overhead, which is called midday. After this, the afternoon (afternoon) time starts, which continues till about 4 o’clock.

After 4 o’clock the evening continues till sunset.
Then Pradosh, Nishith and Usha period respectively. Prayer should be done only after evening. Ashtyam: In Vaishnav temples, the ritual of service-worship of eight hours is called ‘Ashtyam’.
In Vallabh sect, Mangala, Shringaar, Gwal, Rajbhog, Uthapan, Bhog, Evening Aarti.

And these are Kirtan services in the name of Shayan.
On this basis, the time of singing of each raga in Indian classical music is fixed. Each raga is composed according to Prahar.

Prahar 2 πŸ‘‰ 9 am to 12 noon: Dev Gandhar, Bhairavi, Mishra Bhairavi, Asavari, Jonpuri, Durga, Gandhari, Mishra Bilawal, Bilawal, Brindavani Sarang, Samant Sarang, Kurubh, Devanagiri.

Prahar 3 πŸ‘‰ 12 noon to 3 pm Gor Sarang, Bhimpalasi, Peelu, Multani, Dhani, Triveni, Palasi, Hanskanakini

Prahar 4 πŸ‘‰ 3 PM to 6 PM Traditional Kirtan of Bengal, Dhansari, Manohar, Ragashree, Puravi, Malashree, Malvi, Sritank and Hans Narayani

Prahar 5 πŸ‘‰ 6 pm to 9 pm Yaman, Yaman Kalyan, Hem Kalyan, Purvi Kalyan, Bhupali, Puriya, Kedar, Jaldhar Kedar, Marwa, Chhaya, Khamaj, Narayani, Durga, Tilak Kamod, Hindol, Mishra Khamaj Nat, Hameer

Prahar 8 πŸ‘‰ From 3 am to 6 am Chandrakos, Malkos, Gopika Basant, Pancham, Megh Ranjini, Bhankar, Lalita Gauri, Lalita, Khat, Gurjari Tori, Barati Tori, Bhopal Tori, Prabhati Kirtan.
