According to Hindu religion, a person is born for salvation. The practical meaning of salvation is to attain self-knowledge or supreme knowledge. It is called attaining Samadhi in Yoga, Kaivalya in Jainism and Nirvana in Buddhism. All the activities, customs or traditions of religion are for this. Pilgrimage is one of them.
For every Hindu, going on pilgrimage is a virtuous deed. It is important to visit Char Dham among pilgrimages. Therefore, consider the life of one who has not traveled as meaningless. Hindu religion believes that when a human being comes into life by birth, it is necessary to see the world. Seeing is more than seeing. To visit a pilgrimage. Many types of circumambulation are done during the pilgrimage. There are different times for doing all the parikrama. Pilgrimage circumambulation:- Like Chaurasi Kos Parikrama, Ayodhya, Ujjain or Prayag Panchkoshi Yatra, Rajim Parikrama etc. River circumambulation also comes under this. Like Narmada, Ganga, Saryu, Kshipra, Godavari, Kaveri Parikrama etc. Char Dham Parikrama:- Like Chhota Char Dham Parikrama or Bada Char Dham Yatra. Mountain Parikrama:- Like Govardhan Parikrama, Girnar, Kamadgiri, Tirumalai Parikrama etc.
Benefits of pilgrimage-
1. Traveling gives us new experiences and enhances our memories. Thinking increases. Are educated.
2. Through travelling, we are able to see how the earth is, how nature is, how cities, villages and towns are.
3.Travel lets us know the language, dress and food of different cultures and religions.
4.Only through traveling can we know how people are, what their thoughts are and hence we can decide how we are.

6.Many people leave one city and move to another. This lets them know where what is available and at what price. By doing this they can start that business in their city which is not there in their city.
7.There are many things which are not happening in your city. If you travel, you will know what is not happening in your city, village or town. 8.Pilgrimage often involves walking. Walking makes the body fit and strong. The thighs, arms, nerves and muscles become strong.
9.By going on pilgrimage, a person has to face every kind of climate due to which he becomes healthy and gets new experiences. The pure air in the mountains infuses new life.
10.During a pilgrimage, a person tries to know his country and religion. The pilgrim priest meets Panda and gets to know his clan. One gets a chance to stay in the ashrams of ascetics, manasvi, sadhus, saints etc. If you do not stay in his ashram, then you get a chance to meet him, due to which you get mental benefit.
11. In Hindu religion, there is a detailed mention of the importance of undertaking pilgrimage to four religions. Through this, a person not only gets acquainted with the entire people of the country, their culture, language, history, religion and tradition etc. but also opens the doors of intellectuality and self-knowledge within himself.

Satsang on the pilgrimage:- The classical instructions for pilgrimage are that it should be done in the form of foot journey only. This tradition is seen being followed in many places. Earlier, religious people used to go on pilgrimage in small and big groups. The routes and stops of the journey were fixed. We used to stop in the villages, hamlets, huts, slums etc. found on the way and rest for the night at some suitable place. Wherever he stopped, discussing religion and telling stories to people, this sequence continued from morning till evening. Even during the night halt, there was a sequence of Katha Kirtan and Satsang.
Philosophical importance:- It also has a philosophical importance that every planet and star in the entire universe is revolving around some star or the other. This rotation is the truth of life. The entire life of a person is a cycle. To understand this cycle, a symbol like Parikrama was created. The entire creation is contained in God only, everything has originated from Him, by circling around Him we can believe that we have revolved around the entire creation. Parikrama also has religious and scientific importance.
