Why are marriages and auspicious functions prohibited during Kharmas, what is the truth behind this?

Share

According to Markandeya Purana, the Sun sits on the chariot of its seven horses and revolves around the entire universe.

The Sun’s chariot does not stop even for a moment during this circumambulation.

But due to continuous walking and the heat of the sun, horses started getting distraught with thirst and fatigue.
Seeing this pathetic condition of horses, the Sun God considers to stop them and stop the chariot for the purpose of quenching their thirst.

But he remembers his vow that he will never take rest in his continuous journey.

Considering, the chariot of Sun God was moving forward. Then the Sun saw two khar (donkeys) near a pond.

The idea came to his mind that as long as the horses of his chariot rest by drinking water, the journey should be continued by plowing these two kars in the chariot.

Thinking so, the Sun ordered his charioteer Arun to hold both the khars in place of horses.

At the behest of the Sun, his charioteer plowed the kars in the chariot.
Khar moved on the parikrama path with the Sun’s chariot at his slow pace.

Due to the chariot running at a dim speed, the sun’s sharp also started to slow down.

It has been called ‘Khar’ month due to the Sun’s chariot pulling by the kars.

Khar month comes twice a year.

In which chanting is eighty times fruitful from common day.

One, when the Sun is in Sagittarius.

Second, when the Sun comes in Pisces.

During this time, the Sun does not fall on the northern hemisphere of the bright earth.

Due to this weak position of the Sun, during this period, home-entry, new house, new vehicle, shaving, marriage etc. are considered forbidden.

No new work is started.

But in this month, worship of Sun and Jupiter is particularly fruitful, which is eighty times fruitful from the common day.

According to Gururan Purana, there is no salvation by giving up his life in Khar month.

Therefore, in the war of Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamah did not abandon his life in the month of Khar.

He waited for the Sun to be Uttarayan.

It is to be noted that there is a difference between Khar month and feces.

There is Khar month when the Sun comes in Sagittarius and Pisces.

It comes twice a year.

Whereas the stool comes once in three years.

It is also called more mass and Purushottam month.

Asura Hiranyakashyap had a boon that he would not die in any of the twelve months.

Therefore, Lord Vishnu composed Mal month for his slaughter.
