Why do we light the eternal flame during Navratri?
Along with the worship of the nine forms of Goddess Durga during the nine days of Navratri, on this holy festival, Ghatasthapana is done in many houses, while in many places there is a ritual of Akhand Jyot. People who worship Shakti do the sadhna of Maa Durga by lighting the Akhand Jyot. Akhand Jyoti means a flame that is not broken. Akhand Jyoti should remain unbroken for the entire nine days i.e. it should keep burning. Akhand Deep should be lit with proper chanting of mantras. Many rules are followed during Navratri.
Importance of eternal flame
Akhand Jyot has a lot of importance in Navratri. It is considered inauspicious if it is extinguished. Wherever this Akhand Jyot is lit, it is necessary for someone to be present there, it is not left empty. The flame of the lamp in the Akhand Jyot should burn from left to right. This type of burning lamp is an indicator of financial gain. The heat of the lamp should be felt 4 inches around the lamp, this lamp is an indicator of good fortune. The lamp whose flame is of the color of gold brings wealth and prosperity in your life and gives the message of progress in business.
Burning the Akhand Jyoti for 1 year continuously brings all kinds of happiness. Such a lamp removes all kinds of problems like Vastu Dosh, affliction, stress, poverty etc. If your Akhand Jyoti extinguishes itself without any reason, then it is considered inauspicious. The wick of a lamp should not be changed frequently. Lighting a lamp from another lamp is also considered inauspicious. Doing so increases illness and creates obstacles in auspicious works. There is a provision of lighting the Akhand Jyoti in the rituals or sadhana done with a resolve. The task of pouring ghee in the Akhand Jyoti or making any changes in it should be done by the Sadhak only and not by anyone else.
Ankhed Jyot is also good for health
Actually it is believed that by lighting ankhed jyot in front of Maa, the blessings of Maa always remain in that house. Lighting ankhed deep in Navratri is also good for health because the smell of ghee and camphor keeps the breathing and nervous system of a person healthy. By lighting the Akhand Deep in Navratri, the Goddess never gets angry with her devotees. Due to the Akhand Jyoti in Navratri, the place of worship is never overshadowed by unwanted things.
By lighting an unbroken lamp of ghee or oil during Navratri, negative thoughts never dominate the mind and the mind remains happy and peaceful. The fragrance of the scented lamp in the house keeps the mind calm due to which there are no quarrels in the house and the atmosphere remains peaceful.
