In Hindu religion, the north-east direction of the house is considered best for worship. 1. The puja room should never be made of metal, it is considered auspicious to have it made of wood, stone and marble.
2.The puja room should be open and big. The puja room should not be built under the stairs at all. It is always considered best to be on the ground floor; it should never be made even in the basement.

3. Pooja room should never be made in the bedroom, but even if it has to be made due to lack of space, there must be a curtain in the place of worship. Be sure to cover the place of worship with a curtain during the afternoon and night.
4. Idols should never face the entrance of the puja room.

5. Big, heavy and sacred idols should not be kept in the worship room. Only light weight idols and pictures should be kept in the home temple. These should be kept at some distance from the wall and not resting on the wall.
6. In the puja room, the idols/pictures of the deities should not be facing each other, that is, the eyes of the deities should not fall on each other.

7. Many idols of the same God should not be kept together in the worship room.
8. Pictures of your ancestors should never be kept along with the idols of God in the puja room.
9. Broken idols should never be kept in the worship room. If an idol gets broken, it should be immediately removed and floated in water.

10. Make sure to put a picture of the family deity on the east or north wall of the house.
11. Coired coconut must be kept in the puja room.
12.Sacred instruments like Shree Yantra, Vyapar Vriddhi Yantra, Kuber Yantra, Visa Yantra, Dakshinvarti conch, single-eyed coconut etc. must be installed in the puja room. These instruments should be installed on unbroken rice (whole rice) and these rice should be changed every full moon.

13. Only copper utensils should be used to offer water to God in the puja room.
14. While doing any puja and chanting, one must use some or the other asana and while doing the puja, keep water in a vessel, then after the puja, pour some water under the asana and apply it on your forehead before getting up. Otherwise the results of worship are not achieved at all.

15. Kalash, dome etc. should not be made at all in the worship room of the house.
16. If there is a provision for performing Havan in the puja room, then it should always be in the southeast corner.
17. Broom, mop or dustbin should not be kept near the place of worship. Shoes and slippers should also not be kept near the place of worship.

18. White, light yellow, pink or blue color is considered auspicious for the puja room. Colors like black, blue, brown, red etc. should never be used in the puja room.
19. No valuable item should ever be kept hidden in the worship room.
20. Keeping papers related to a court case in a cupboard or any other place below the puja room increases the chances of victory in it.
