Molela village located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan is famous for terracotta art. This village is also known for the more than 650 years old Devi temple situated on the hill. This temple is the old Kheda Devi Mata temple.
The temple is built at a height of about 200 feet and is spread over an area of 25 bighas. The idol of Chamunda Mata is worshiped in this temple. There are about 120 steps to reach the temple situated on the hill. On the occasion of Chaitra and Ashwin month Navratri, migrants from the region living in Mumbai, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra come to visit. The temple of Maa Kheda Devi situated on the hill amidst greenery looks attractive.

Devotees offer Trishul in the temple after their vow is fulfilled. Many devotees also offer a trident equal to their body weight when their vow is fulfilled. There are many facilities for the devotees visiting the temple. But even today Mataji is sitting in the open under the banyan tree. There is no roof on the temple.
Animal sacrifice banned on request of Jain saint
According to the information, earlier animal sacrifices were made to the Mother Goddess. Shramana Federal General Secretary Saubhagya Muni, who was celebrating Chaturmas in Molela village in 2004, had received information about animal sacrifice in the Mata temple on Navratri. Then he urged the people of the village not to sacrifice animals. He himself reached the temple. After this, from the year 2006, there was a ban on sacrifice in programs held throughout the year including Navratri.

Rajsamand is the district headquarters and is connected by road to all major cities. The nearest airport is at Udaipur. From here one can reach Rajsamand by private car or Rajasthan Roadways bus and from there to Malela. The distance of Rajsamand from Udaipur headquarters is about 62 km.
