Pagal Baba Temple, Vrindavan

Share

On the way from Mathura to Vrindavan, there is a huge marble temple in the shape of a flower, which is quite beautiful to see. It is called the temple of Pagal Baba. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of this huge ten-storey temple.

You climb each floor having darshan of the Lord and the path is designed in such a way that the circumambulation of all the temples is completed automatically. There are also many electric and automatic tableaux here, which entertain and enlighten the children. If you are on a trip to Mathura-Vrindavan, then you must visit this temple.

Who was Pagal Baba?

According to the popular story among the devotees, a poor Brahmin took a loan from a moneylender. The Brahmin slowly paid him, but the moneylender finally refused to repay the amount. The matter went to court. When the court asked about the witness, the Brahmin said that Bihari ji was the only witness. A notice was sent by the court to Bihari ji’s temple. After some time, an old man came to testify in the court and told each date when the Brahmin repaid his loan. That amount was recorded in the Mahajan’s books on every date. Later the judge asked the Brahmin about the witness and the Brahmin said that the witness could not be anyone other than Bihari ji himself. It is said that the same judge became emotional and started serving Bihari ji. Later he came to Vrindavan in the form of a mad Baba and then the work of this temple started.

Darshan timings in the temple:

While most of the temples in Mathura and Vrindavan open at 4 pm, this temple opens a little earlier for darshan.

In winter, 6 am to 12 noon and 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

In summer, from 5 am to 11:30 pm and from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
