Baba Jangli Nath Sitapur

It is said that the Shivalinga installed in the Shiva temple named Baba Jangli Nath is sunk five meters deep into the earth. Based on popular belief, whenever an attempt was made to take this Shivling out of the earth, blood started coming out from the Shivling.

Local people believe that this ancient Shiva temple named Baba Jangli is a proven temple. There is a huge crowd of devotees here during Shiva festival i.e. Shivratri and Mahashivratri.

According to the popular legends here, this Shiva temple was built about 200 years ago during the British rule. It is said that there used to be an officer here who was known as Dand Saheb. Once Dand Saheb was taking this Shivling through the forest.This Shivalinga of Bholenath fell on the earth near Tahpur village of Laharpur. After which Dand Saheb tried hard to lift the Shivalinga, but he failed.

He tried to take out the Shivalinga by digging a pit with some laborers. While digging the pit, the shovel collided with the Shivalinga and blood came out on it. After which he immediately stopped the workers. It is said that on the same night Lord Shankar appeared to Dand Saheb in his dream. And told Dand Sahib to consecrate my life and build a temple where Shivalinga is. The very next morning Dand Saheb started the construction of the temple.
