In this temple of Shanidev in Pratapgarh, the unbroken flame has been burning continuously for 35 years, the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled.

Shanidham temple, established in Kushfra of Vishwanathganj market on the route from Prayagraj to Pratapgarh, was established in 1985 by Parma Maharaj, resident of Jalalpur village of Katra Mediniganj of Pratapgarh district. The statue of Shanidev made of black stones is installed in this temple on the banks of Bakulahi river.

There is a proven temple of Shanidev on Pratapgarh road, about 50 kilometers away from Prayagraj district headquarters. It is said that by having darshan of the God of Justice here, all the wishes of a human being are fulfilled. He also gets freedom from the wrath of Saturn.Devotees from many districts of the state come to this temple present on the tourism map of the state for darshan and worship. A huge crowd gathers at the temple on Saturday.

This is the story behind the establishment of Shani Temple

The temple was established by Parma Maharaj 34 years ago in the year 1985 in the month of Sawan. According to Mangala Charan Mishra, the present priest of the temple and son of Parma Maharaj, Maharaj ji saw Shanidev in his dream and asked him to come to his place. While searching for the said place, Maharaj ji reached a mound shaped forest near Bakulahi river and found the idol of Shanidev buried amidst the bushes of Sarpat. Then he performed puja there and returned home. After two-three days, he had a dream again, then he went to the said place, performed puja and went to his office.

Gradually the fame of the temple started increasing, crowd started gathering

Maharaj ji was a contractor in the irrigation department at that time. When his work started getting completed rapidly, he discussed with his colleagues about getting the idol of Shanidev. Then it was decided to build a temple there. The temple was built with the cooperation of the people and friends of the area. As soon as the temple was built, devotees gradually started gathering here. His wish started coming true. In 1986, he lit the eternal flame with mustard oil in the Shani temple, which continues to burn till today.

Shanidham came on the tourism map of the state in the year 2002.

In the year 2002, Shani Dev temple of Kushfra came on the map of the tourism department of the state. Construction of a bridge over the Bakulahi River was also started in 1997. The priest of the temple tells that the temple is situated at the southern end of the forest of 85 bighas. Chanting the name of Akhand Sitaram for the welfare of the world was started here from the year 2000, which continued till 2020. Bhandara is held here every year.
