How did Sun God become the Guru of Shri Hanuman ji?

Share

Lord Hanumanji from whom everyone wishes to give strength, intelligence and knowledge. How concerned Hanumanji’s mother was about his education can be seen only by reading his history. There are many such mythological stories from which we can read about them. Just as Mother is the embodiment of the indomitable power of the entire universe. The form of the entire creation sprouted in the mother’s lap itself,It flourishes, blossoms and develops. The bright future of the world flourishes only in the loving embrace of a mother. If it is said that Mother is the creative power of the entire world, then there would be no exaggeration.

Before birth, the child starts acquiring values from the mother in the womb itself and after birth, he becomes a follower of the mother’s values. Most of the child’s childhood is spent under the loving shadow of the mother. He learns the basics of all the sanskars of good and exemplary, right and wrong, good and bad from his mother only.

Mother’s role is the foundation stone in building the character of the child, that is why Mahiyasi has been given the honor of “Mother as the first Guru”. Anjanadevi was a very virtuous, ascetic and ideal mother full of virtues. She was always active and conscious towards providing her son Shri Hanumanji with commendable diligence the status of an ideal child. After the puja and before sleeping at night, she used to narrate inspiring stories from the Puranas to her dearest son. She used to narrate the character of ideal men Shri Hanumanji again and again and kept drawing her son’s attention towards him.

When Mother Anjanadevi started narrating the story of the incarnation of Lord Shri Ram, then the entire attention of child Shri Hanumanji would concentrate on the said story. Sleep and hunger have no meaning for them. Out of spontaneous love, Shri Hanumanji would listen to the story of Shri Ram again and again and would get lost. Mother started worrying. Shri Hanumanji had also become old enough to study. Mother Anjanidevi and monkey king Kesari thought – ‘Now Hanuman will have to be handed over to a qualified guru for his education. Therefore, Mother Anjana and Kapishwar Kesari decided to send Shri Hanumanji to Guru-griha for attaining knowledge.

With immense joy, the parents performed the Upanayana Sanskar of their beloved Shri Hanumanji and gave him affectionate orders to seek refuge at the feet of the Guru for the pursuit of education, but the problem was that which ideal Guru should Shri Hanumanji accept the discipleship of. Mother Anjana said in a loving voice – “Son! Among all the Gods, only Lord Bhaskar is called the Adi Dev and then, Lord Suryadev, who has knowledge of all the scriptures, has also given you a kind assurance of completing your studies on time. Therefore, you surrender yourself to him and study with faith and devotion.”

When Shri Hanumanji jumped into the sky after offering his respectful obeisances at the feet of his parents, he found “Arun, the charioteer of the Sun God”. Shri Hanumanji introduced himself by taking his father’s name and Arun asked him to go to Anshumali. Anjaneya touched the feet of Lord Surya with great devotion and offered his heartfelt obeisances to him.

Seeing the humble Shri Hanumanji standing in the fire, Lord Bhuvanbhaskar asked in affectionate words – ‘Son! Tell me the purpose of your arrival.’ Shri Hanumanji requested in a humble voice – ‘Lord! After completion of my sacrificial fire, Mother has sent me to your feet to study. Please kindly give me knowledge.’ Suryadev said – ‘Son! I want you as my disciple It would be immense pleasure to make it, but you only see my situation. I keep running around riding my chariot. After listening to Suryadev, Pawanatmaj said – ‘Lord! Your fast moving chariot will not be able to hinder my studies from anywhere. Yes, you should not face any kind of inconvenience. I will continue to move forward with the speed of the chariot in front of you.

Shri Hanumanji was walking ahead of Sun God in his natural form, facing him.

bhaanuson padhan hanumaan gae bhaanu man, anumaani sisukeli kiyo pheraphaar so.

paachhile pagani gam gagan magan-man, kram ko na bhram, kapi baalak-bihaar so..

Suryadev was not surprised to see this because he knew that Hanumanji himself was intelligent but according to tradition it was necessary to take education from a Guru, hence Suryadev taught him many knowledge in a few days so that he could be called a scholar.
