Ten kilometers away from Kahalgaon, there is a temple of Baba Bateshwarnath at the foot of Bateshwar mountain on the banks of Uttarwahini Ganga. This was also the confluence point of Ganga and Kosi rivers. Shiva devotees and tourists keep coming here throughout the year. In the month of Sawan, there is a crowd to offer water to Baba Batesh. History of the temple
Mahadev in your form is present in Bateshwarsthan. Munivar Vashishtha also did penance and worship here. Earlier this temple was called Vashishteshwar Mahadev. Later Bateshwar came to be known as Mahadev. Lord Buddha also stayed here for three months and did Sadhana Varshavas. Chaurasi Muni and other sages also did sadhana. This is also a Siddha Tantra Peetha. Sen Raja of Bengal built the temple in 1216. It was renovated in the year 1272 by Mathuranath Chattopadhyay, a resident of Hoogli, Bengal. After this, it has been renovated from time to time.

There are four more important Shiva temples on the four sides of Baba Bateshwarnath. Which have different importance. In all these temples including Baba Bateshwar, the idol of Maa Kali is not of Parvati in front of Shiva.
There is a statue of Mother Ganga in front of Bateshwarnath Mahadev temple, statue of Vasari Devi Bhagwati in front of Parihar Nath Mahadev, statue of Ganga in front of Ghoreshwar Nath Mahadev and Jangeleshwar Mahadev. Maa Kali situated in front of Bateshwar Nath is Moksha Dayini. Bateshwarsthan has been the origin place of Vikramshila.

On Monday of Sawan, a huge crowd of worshipers gathers here. Rudrabhishek and Aarti are organized every day. Kanwarias also go to the court of Baba Basukinath after filling water from the Ganga here.
