There is a legend that this temple was built by Lakha Banjare. It is believed that Lakha Banjara was going to the market with sacks of sugar. At the same time, when Siddha Baba asked him about the sacks, Lakha mockingly said that there was salt in the sacks, but when Lakha reached the market, he found sugar in the sacks. Instead, only salt came out. When he reached the hill running, Buddhist Giri Baba had disappeared from there. Two Shivalingas emerged from his sitting place. Whom people know as Alopishankar Mahadev. Bhandaras are organized daily at Alopi Shankar Temple. For the last ten years, Akhand Ramayana is being performed and Akhand Deepak is being lit.
