Siddhanath temple of Kanpur is famous by the name of second Kashi, the history of throwing bone in crow’s havan is popular.
The famous temple of Lord Shiva in Jajmau, Kanpur, Sidhnath is situated on the banks of Ganga.  This temple is also famous by the name of Second Kashi. Here, during the excavation done by King Yayati, the Shivlinga of Siddhanath temple was found.
In the month of Shravan, devotees from the city as well as many other cities come to the Siddhanath temple located in Jajmau to have the darshan of Mahadev. After taking bath in Ganga, devotees offer Bel leaves and sandalwood to Bhole Baba and pray for happiness and prosperity. During the month of Shravan, a long queue of devotees starts forming in the Siddhanath temple from early morning for Jalabhishek.

History of the temple: The history of Siddhanath temple situated on the holy banks of Mokshadayini Maa Ganga dates back to Tretayuga. The ancient temple is popular among the devotees by the name of Second Kashi. It is believed that the Shivlinga of Siddhanath temple was found in the excavation done by King Yayati. Devotees say that in ancient times, after completing 100 consecutive yagyas, this place would have got the status of Kashi, but during the 100th yagya, a crow had thrown a bone into the Havan Kund. Due to the completion of 99 yagyas, this place came to be known as the second Kashi.

Specialty of the temple: Siddhanath Baba is worshiped as the Kotwal of Jajmau. Devotees perform Jalabhishek of Mahadev with Ganga water and pray for happiness and prosperity. A huge fair is organized in the temple premises in the month of Shravan. Devotees offer Bel leaves and milk and curd to Mahadev. Excavation has been done twice to measure the length of the Shivalinga installed here, but the end of the Shivalinga could not be found.

Thousands of devotees come to see Siddhanath Baba in the month of Shravan. It is believed that by offering Bel Patra to Madahev, all the wishes are fulfilled. In the holy month of Shravan, one can see enthusiasm like Kashi Vishwanath among the devotees in Baba’s court.Devotees from all over the country come to see Mahadev in the month of Shravan. Devotees take a dip in the Ganga before having darshan of the Lord. Devotees start any auspicious work only after having darshan of Baba. In the month of Shravan, there are long queues of devotees every day for Jalabhishek.
