Bageshawar mahadev temple Saharanpur
Saharanpur: India is a Sanatani country. Historical temples and religious places are located at every corner here. Where people from all over the country and abroad come to visit and also do religious pilgrimage. According to the scriptures, there is mention of 5 Shivalingas in India since ancient times. One of which mentions the story of Shivling appearing in Company Bagh of Saharanpur district. Bageshwar Shiva Temple located in Company Bagh of the district was established during the British rule. People have unwavering faith in the Bageshwar Shiva temple.
Priest Baba told that 50 years have passed since I came to Bageshwar Shiv Temple. He told that in earlier times, Mahatmas used to camp here. At that time there was no temple here. This complex of Company Bagh used to be a kind of forest at that time. According to the priest, one day many Mahatmas were roaming at this place in the morning, when they stumbled on their feet. He saw that something like a Shivalinga was coming out from inside the earth. It is believed that Bageshwar Shivalinga, one of the five Shivalingas of Lord Singh, is located here. He told that Marathas used to rule here during the British rule.
The temple was established when Shivalinga appeared.
The priest told that at that time there used to be Gorkha (Pahari) employees in the company garden. One of the employees worked to establish a small Shiva temple on the Shivalinga. A British officer of that time has mentioned in a book that at around 12 o’clock in the night, the sound of lions roaring would be heard from the place where Shivalinga was located and the British soldiers would become alert with weapons. It is written in the book that when the British soldiers went in the direction of the sound of the roar, they saw a matted Yogi Baba meditating and a small child was seen walking near him in the form of a shadow.
