Bandravi Veera Hanuman Temple

Lord Hanuman Temple one of the oldest temple is situated at Bandravi village is located in Molakalmuru taluk of Chitradurga district and also close to Bellary in Karnataka. It is covered by forests and hills on all sides. This is the temple of Shri Sita Ramachandra and Lord Hanuman.

It is believed that the prathistapana was done by Janamejaya during the Mahabharata period. The main idol of Mukhya Prana was buried underneath as a result of floods in this region. However according to many people it is believed that the current sanctum structure was built in the period of Vijayanagara Empire around 600 years ago and the Punar Prathistapana was done.

According to other sources it is also told the Shri Narahari Teertharu, disciple of Shri Madhwacharya installed the idols of Shri Sita Ramachandra,Lord Hanuman and Garuda. It is very special that we can see Prana Devaru (Lord Hanuman), Bheema and Madhwa avatara in the same idol. The face, tail and anklets in feet depict Hanuma roopa, the well built body, the saugandhika flower in the tail and armour show Bheemasena roopa, the eyes, 12 namas and loin cloth show the Madhwa roopa. The speciality in the idol is that both the eyes are seen. The idol of Garuda is also another special feature.

Every year on Magha shuddha Poornima, Brahmotsava takes place. Every month, the first Sunday after the poornima, the Pavamana Homa is performed.
Shri Rama Navami, Hanumad vrata, Hanuma Jayanti are celebrated in this temple on a grand scale. Many Madhwa swamijis have visited, worshipped the Lord and have blessed the devotees.
