Angyari Mahadev Temple in the state of Uttarakhand is located on the border of Chamoli and Bageshwar district.This temple is a divine place located in the Gwaladam region of Chamoli district.
This holy temple has many religious values for local peoples. Along with these spiritual values, many devotees of Lord Shiva and trekking enthusiasts also visit here and see the wonderful form of Lord Bholenath.
Mythology
Angyari Mahadev Temple has a very rich history. It is believed that Maharishi Angyari did penance to Lord Shiva in this place, which makes the Lord Shiva very cheerful, and then he gave his Darshan to Angyari Maharishi at this place. It was also believed that at that time the Ganga, Gomti and Bhagirathi rivers also originated from here. As the time passed, the Ganga and Bhagirathi river gradually disappeared, but there are some parts of the Gomti river that are still there.
Angyari Mahadev Temple is divided in two parts, the main part of this temple is situated above the walk passage and other of the two parts is situated below the walking passage. There is also a water source nearby, that has been flowing continuously for a lot of years, the water of this river always graze on the Shivlinga. It is also believed by the people that whoever comes in here in the month of sawan and wish for something with their devoted heart, there wish will be get fulfilled y the almighty. This is a very iconic place and all the pilgrims and even the devotees comes here especially in the month of sawan to worship the almighty and also to enjoy the amazing view and atmosphere at that point of time.
The devotees have to trek for almost 4 to 5 km to reach this holy Angyari Mahadev Temple. There is some difficulties in the route of this temple, the route of Lord Shiva’s temple is difficult and inaccessible at some point as you have to trek and climb steep ridges.
