Bhanvareshvar Mandir Nigoha Raebareli
The glory of Bhanvareshwar Mahadev, which is included among the ancient Shiva temples, is unique. Devotees say that the Shivalinga here is from Dwapar era. Mahabali Bhima had established it. When Pandavas were in exile, its name was Bhimashankar.
It is said that the cows of Kurri Sudauli State used to come here to graze in the forest called Trayambak. On returning, all the cows gave milk in the cow shed of the palace, but one cow did not give milk at all. When this news spread in the palace, it was investigated. Then it came to light that there was a place in the forest surrounded by dense bushes, where the cow used to come every day to offer her milk. When the place was cleaned the idol was visible.
Then a platform was built at the same place and a flag was installed and then it was named Siddheshwar. Later, when Mughal ruler Aurangzeb was passing through here with his army, out of stubbornness he started digging the Shivalinga. The more he dug, the more huge Shivalinga he found.
Finally, when the end was not found, she tried to get the soldiers to start plucking the Shivalinga, but the whirlpools attacked the soldiers. Seeing this, Aurangzeb apologized and built a small dome-shaped monastery.
Then its name was Bhanvareshwar. Later the temple was renovated by Kurri Sudauli State. The Goswami family is responsible for the worship of the temple. Lakhs of devotees gather here in the month of Sawan. Ask for wishes.
