Bhimnath Mahadeo temple is very old temple of Shiva. Gayatri Saktipith is also in same compound. A very old temple story related to Pandavas and Bhima. On the banks of Sabarmati river.

Legend has it that Pandavas came here during their exile. Arjun then had a rule that even that food should not be eaten without seeing Lord Shiva. Then Arjun was fasting. But Bhima was feeling hungry, then he made a Shivalinga of clay and placed flowers and bel leaves on it. Bhima said to Arjun, look, Lord Shiva has been seen. After seeing Shivling, Arjun offered Abhishka to Shivling with Shraddha and after that everyone had food. Arjuna’s worship was so intense that Shivlinga became made of stone. After having food, Bhima laughingly told that Shivlinga is made of clay. And then when Bhima lifted the Shivlinga, the Shivlinga did not even move.
