Share

Dasshisha Nath Mahadev is situated in the stream in the middle of Son river.

Dasshishanath Mahadev place situated in the middle stream of Son river near Bandu village of Nauhatta block of Rohtas district.

Lord Bhole Baba is situated in the stream in the middle of Son river in Rohtas, Bihar. This temple of Baba is called Dasshisha Nath Mahadev. Actually, Mahadev resides in every corner of India.

The glory of Dasshisha Nath Mahadev Temple is unmatched: There is a legend that Ravana himself had established Shivalinga at this place. This is the reason why it is named Dasshisha Nath. Since this Shivling remains immersed in the water of Son river for more than 8 months in a year, this Shivling is available for darshan only for three to four months. It is believed that Bandu village is also the place of battle between King Sahastrabahu of Mahishmati and Ravana.

Dassheesha Temple is the battle site of Ravana and King Sahastrabahu: It is said that once upon a time, King Sahastrabahu of Mahishmati along with hundreds of his queens had come to take bath in Son river, but the water of Son river was blocked by his wide arms. At the same time, Ravana also reached the same place to worship Lord Shiva, but when Ravana did not get the water of Son River for the Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, Ravana became angry. After which there was a war between Sahastrabahu and Ravana at this place. Ravana was defeated in this war. Ravana had established Shivalinga and worshiped here. Therefore this Shivalinga is called Das Shishanath.

Bandu is the confluence of Son-Koel and Saraswati: It is believed that at this place the Koel and local Saraswati rivers come and merge. Both the rivers merge into Son River. Thus, it is the confluence of three rivers and Dasshishanath Mahadev is established at this place. Devotees are able to reach here somehow by boat and sometimes by wading into the water. This temple is situated at a very inaccessible place. It is quite difficult to reach here but still Shiva devotees somehow reach here and offer prayers.

In ancient times, many kings have got their inscriptions written here: In ancient times, many kings have got their inscriptions written at this Mahadev place. The complete genealogy of Kharwar king Pratap Dhaval Dev is mentioned here. All the kings who have come and worshiped here in different periods have got their names inscribed there. This shows how ancient and important this Dasshishanath temple is. Even at present, Shiva devotees from far away places reach here and offer prayers. The big thing is that a lot of people come here during Sawan and there is a fair like atmosphere there on Mahashivratri.

Dasshishanath Temple is a treasure of mysteries in itself: Its inaccessibility shows that Dasshishanath is a treasure of mysteries in itself. It is said to be of Treta Yugin. This is a mysterious Shivalinga. The way it has been established, it is still situated at the same place even after hundreds of years, which is amazing. It remains completely submerged in water for most of the year, yet it still exists strongly. Shiva devotees become blessed just by seeing Nath Mahadev Shivling.
