There is a huge temple built in a single stone in Devtalab. It is believed that this temple was built overnight and was built by Lord Vishwakarma himself. It is believed that the journey to Charodham is completed by visiting Devtalab. The faith of the devotees is linked to the temple, three fairs are organized here every year and due to this faith, thousands of devotees come every month for darshan.

It is believed that the Devtalab temple was built in a single night. It is said that when people looked in the morning, they found a huge temple built here but no one saw how the temple was built. According to the ancestors, along with the temple, a supernatural Shivalinga was also born here. This Shivalinga is mysterious and changes color four times a day.

There is a legend that Maharishi Markandeya, a great devotee of Shiva, was engrossed in worship while insisting on having darshan of Shiva at Devtalab. To give darshan to Maharishi, Lord Vishwakarma was ordered to build a temple here. After that, a huge temple was built here overnight and Shiv Ling was established. It is said that the amazing temple built on a single stone is located only in Devtalab.

There is also a belief that there is another temple of Shiva below this temple and a miraculous gem is present in it. Many years ago, the door of the temple was closed due to the continuous emergence of snakes and scorpions from the basement of the temple. There was a pit right in front of the temple. Legend has it that as soon as the king planned to demolish this temple, the entire dynasty got buried under the ground and was destroyed. Apart from this Shivalinga, the Maharaja of Rewa state has built four other temples here. It is believed that the journey to Charodham is completed by visiting Devtalab. The faith of the devotees is attached to this temple. That is why three fairs are held here every year and with this faith thousands of devotees come every month for darshan.

The name of “Devtalab”, the city of “Shiva”, is derived from a pond. There are many ponds around the Devtalab temple. By the way, the presence of many ponds in Devtalav is the specialty of this place. The pond in the Shiva temple courtyard is famous by the name of “Shiv-Kund”. There has been a tradition of taking water from “Shiv-Kund” and offering it to the “Panch-Shivling” idol of devotee Sadashiv Bholenath. According to the elders of the areas around the temple, the belief is such that water is taken from “Shiv-Kund” five times and offered to all the five temples.

Devtalab Shiva temple is the center of faith for the devotees. The worship of the devotees going on the Char Dham pilgrimage is not complete until they offer water to the Devtalab Shiva temple. After visiting Char Dham, devotees reach here and offer water to Lord Bholenath. Devotees from every corner of the country come here to worship Bholenath.
