This temple of Lord Shiva is very ancient and special. Dongeshwar Mahadev is located at a distance of about 75 km from Rajnandgaon district headquarters. You will find this place after walking about 8 kilometers on the Gandai (Narmada)-Balaghat road. Nature is spread here in all its beauty.
The temple was built in 1974
Earlier this place was known as Chodrapat, which has now become Chodra Dham. Impressed by the natural beauty of this place, former landlord of Gandai Lal Dogendrashah Khusro inspired people to build a temple here and as a result a Shiv temple was built here in 1974. The natural beauty of this place is very unique. The natural uninterrupted source of water falling between the huge rocks, vibrates the strings of the heart and provides coolness.
There is a long queue of devotees during the month of Saavan. This uninterrupted source was taken out from a Gomukh made of marble in 1974 and made to flow on the Shivling. People call it Gupt Ganga. The source of this Gupt Ganga is still a secret. During the month of Saavan, the number of devotees visiting here increases considerably. A fair is also organized here during the month of Saavan. Which is very special. At this place, you will feel the devotion of Lord Shiva and being in the midst of natural beauty, which is very beautiful.
