Falgu Mandir Pharal,Haryana
Temple and ghat at Falgu Rishi Tirtha, Faral
This pilgrimage named Falgu Tirtha is about 21 km from Kaithal. It is situated in a distant village called Faral. The name of Faral village also seems to be derived from the Falki forest where sage Falgu used to reside. In Vaman Purana, along with Kamyaka Van, Aditi Van, Vyas Van, Surya Van, Madhuvan and Sheet Van, Falkivan has also been mentioned. All these seven forests were the main forests of the ancient Kurukshetra land.
Description of this pilgrimage is also found in Mahabharata, Vamana Purana, Matsya Purana and Narad Purana. In both Mahabharata and Vamana Purana, this pilgrimage is mentioned as a special place of penance for the gods. There is a clear mention about the importance of this pilgrimage under the context of pilgrimage in Mahabharata Van Parva. According to Mahabharata, by taking bath in this pilgrimage and offering offerings to the gods, a person gets better results than performing Agnishtoma and Atiratra Yagyas.
According to Vamana Purana, the Shraddha performed in this Tirtha on the new moon day of Monday satisfies and satisfies the ancestors in the same way as the Shraddha performed in Gaya. It is said that the person who remembers Falkivan with his mind, his ancestors are undoubtedly satisfied.
