Kashi Khand, Chapter 97 mentions various Shiva Lingas around Kashi.

Among the various lingas, there is mention of an important Shiva linga named Gautameshwar around Muchkundeshwar in the Kashi section. It is believed that this Shiva Linga was established by sage Gautam.

The devotees who worship this Linga will attain all happiness and attain salvation.

Gautameshwar is located at Kashinresh Shivala, D.37/33, Godaulia. It is near Marwari Hospital and is quite famous. According to old people, there was a lot of dispute regarding the worship of this deity and the matter went to the then Kashi king, who after long legal cases took possession of the entire area and built the temple. Therefore, this temple is known as Kashi Naresh Shivala.
