Hazari Mahadev Temple was built during the Mahabharata period
Shiva devotees have deep faith in Shri Hazari Mahadev Temple situated in the north of Sarsainavar. On the holy festival of Mahashivratri, thousands of Kanwariyas anoint Hazari Mahadev with the holy water of Maa Ganga.
Swayambhu Shivalinga is considered to fulfill the wishes of the devotees. Preparations are going on in the temple for the great festival. Also, arrangements were made for the arrival of the devotees who wanted to have darshan.
On Mahashivratri, the atmosphere at Hazari Mahadev Temple of Sarsainavar becomes Shiva-like. On the basis of the remains present in the temple, the Archeology Department has considered them to be from the Mahabharata period.
Apart from the main Shivalinga, a thousand other Shivalingas have also been established in the temple. There are also Ram Darbar, Lakshmi Narayan, Kali Temple, Hanuman Temple. Thousands of devotees not only from Etawah district but also from nearby places like Kishni, Kusmara, Mainpuri, Saurikh, Kannauj, Shikohabad, Sirsaganj, Vidhuna etc. come to Baba Hazari Mahadev Temple for darshan.
Devotees have deep faith in the Peepal tree present in the Hazari Mahadev Temple complex. Despite being very small in size, its age is considered to be thousands of years old. It is believed that a Peepal tree had grown on the tomb of a saint associated with the temple.
Om Namah Shivay Insurance Company is run for the devotees of Shiva by Patiram Pal, a devotee associated with the temple, whom the devotees have come to know as Juna Bhaiya. Juna Bhaiya has till now connected three lakh people with this unique organization.
Hazari Mahadev Temple has been decorated in a new way. The temple has been illuminated with colored bulbs. Also, shops have started being set up in the fair which runs till Holi. Mahant Siyaram Das told that the arrival of Kanwariyas starts two days in advance.
All preparations regarding Mahashivratri festival have been completed. The administration will also deploy PAC force along with a temporary police post. In this regard, Police Station Head Yogendra Sharma said that adequate police force will be deployed and devotees will be given darshan from the line.
The Archeology Department has examined the remains found in a fragmented state in the Hazari Mahadev Temple of Sarsainavar. The remains were considered to be from the Mahabharata period.It is believed that Pandavas came to this area with Mother Kunti during their exile period. The divine Shivalinga of Hazari Mahadev was established by him. Kunita village, situated at a distance of two kilometers from here, is said to be named after Kunti.
