Hindu Temple & Cultural Centre, Canberra

Built in order to promote and flourish the richness of the Hindu religion, culture, as well as philosophy, Hindu Temple & Cultural Centre (HTCC) was initiated in the capital city, Canberra. The sacred shrine and centre is said to be amongst the first temples in Canberra, and thus hold an important place for religious tour for Hindu devotees and those keen on learning about this widespread religion. The temple also houses a library that has been specifically built to help Australian Hindu Community. HTCC’s aim is to provide for a serene ambiance for a spiritual journey and to demonstrate the essentials of Hindu religion such as purity, humility and courage, forgiveness, tolerance and compassion, universal brotherhood and love for all living beings. On a regular basis, presiding priests along with visiting sages/Hindu philosophers also manifest their knowledge here aiming to make the community strong enough to achieve the goal of higher values of life. HTCC also provide facilities for cultural activities like practice of Yoga and meditation, study of Hindi, Sanskrit and other Indian languages. There is also provision for the engagement in Hindu religious activities like contemplating on sacred religious texts and treatises, reflecting on the lives of religious leaders as well as of their followers.
