Many Shiva temples are established in this area.

An age-old temple of Lord Shiva, Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple is a center of devotion for the people of Lansdowne as well as the Bahadur Garhwal Regiment. Located near the main Lansdowne city, Kaleshwar Mahadev is named after Risha Kalun, who meditated here.

Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple was the first and favorite place to visit among Lord Shiva devotees and was considered as the land of meditation for saints. Visitors can still see the mausoleums of many sages near the temple.

In the year 1901, the first Garhwal Regiment built a small temple and Dharamshala here. In the year 1926, a huge temple was built here with the cooperation of the people.
