Kol Kandoli Temple History in Hindi (Nagrota, Jammu Kashmir)

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is the third largest pilgrimage site in India which is located in Katra in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, where every year more than 90 lakh devotees come from all over the country and abroad to visit the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. There are 5 main stops in the journey of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi like Banganga. Charanpaduka | semi-virgin It is mandatory for all the devotees to visit a temple at Bhawan and Bhairo Baba before visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, otherwise the journey to Mata Vaishno Devi is considered incomplete.

Actually, the journey of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage starts from Kaul Kandoli temple located in Nagrota, Jammu, about which the devotees coming to visit Mata Vaishno Devi do not know. Kaul Kondli Temple is located at a distance of 15 kilometers from Jammu. Why was Mata Kaul named Kondli? Kaul means (bowl) and the same Kondli means cowries.

Maa Kol Kandoli had manifested silver kauls i.e. bowls four times in this temple. Mother has played cod and also swung on swings with the local girls at this place. For this reason, this Adhbhud temple has been named Kaul Kandoli. According to mythology, in the Dwapar era, Mother Vaishno appeared here in the form of a girl at the age of 5 years.

Mother Vaishno performed penance at this place for 12 years and also took the form of Pindi at the place of penance itself. During the penance of 12 years, Mata Kaul Kandoli also performed Havan Yagya and Bhandara for world peace. Koal Kandoli Maa revealed a silver Kaul i.e. bowl for thirty-three crore Gods and Maa also revealed 36 types of food from inside the bowl and fed them to the Gods.When the Pandavas spent 13 years in exile, the Pandavas and their mother Kunti came to know that Mother Kol Kandoli resides in Nag Raj village i.e. Nagrota and fulfills the wishes of her devotees.

Then Mother Kunti and the Pandavas came here and Mother Kunti made a vow to Mother Kol Kandoli that the unknown abode of her sons should end and the Pandavas should get their kingdom back. Hearing the wish of Mother Kunti, Kol Kandoli Mother said to Kunti that build my temple in Nagaraj i.e. Nagrota city, all your wishes will definitely be fulfilled. Hearing this from the mother, the Pandavas built this (temple) of Kol Kandoli Maa in just one night and that night was 6 months old.This was the reason why Pandavas built the temple of Kol Kandoli Maa. There is also a temple of Gandeshwari Jyotling in the premises of this temple. It is said that when Pandavas were building the temple of Maa Bhima, he said, Mateshwari, I am very thirsty.

Hearing this, Kol Kandoli Maa rubbed the silver Kaul i.e. bowl on the ground and water appeared from the ground and everyone accepted the same pure and half-watered water as Prasad. At the same place, Maa’s servants also built a well. Drinking the water of the well situated in Kol Kandoli temple gives peace to the mind and sprinkling the water of this well on the body also purifies the body.
