There is a Shiva temple in Rajsamand district whose existence is believed to be from the period of Pandavas. It is said that it was built when the Pandavas came to this area during their exile. However, after his return no one worshiped it for a long time. Then, with the efforts of a local villager, worship started in this temple. Today the situation is such that people from all over the country come to this temple to worship Shivalinga.
This temple, known as Kunteshwar Mahadev, is located in Farara village, about 15 kilometers away from Rajsamand district headquarters. The Chief Trustee of Kunteshwar Mahadev Temple told that the Shivalinga located in this temple was built by the Pandavas during their exile period. It is said that Kunti, the mother of Pandavas, used to worship Lord Shiva every day. Kunti got Shivalinga built here while worshiping Lord Shiva. Since then this temple came to be known as Kunteshwar Mahadev. This temple is a big center of faith for the devotees. A large number of people from all over the country and the world come here to have darshan of their idol, Lord Bholenath. This temple was constructed in 1740.
