Kunteshwar temple of Kintur village is known for its distinct identity. It is believed that the invisible power first worships the Shivling here around 12 o’clock in the night. Due to this, till date no one’s wish of being the first to worship the Shivalinga here has been fulfilled. This mystery makes this temple important. It is believed that Mother Kunti is still present in this temple. Every wish sought here is fulfilled.
There are two types of beliefs here. First, during the Mahabharata period, when Mother Kunti came here with her Pandava sons on a 13-month long exile, she asked the mighty Bhima to establish Shivalinga here. On this, Bhima brought two Shivalingas from the mountain ranges and installed them here. On the other hand, Kanatasa, mother of ruler Bharshiv, had established Shivalinga. Temple priest Shitala Prasad Das told that it is said that once upon a time Mother Kunti and Duryodhana’s mother Gandhari reached this place to worship.
According to the story, here both of them started wishing for the victory of their sons. On this, a voice came from the sky that whoever performs the first Shivarchan with golden flowers before sunrise tomorrow will be victorious in the war. Mother Kunti became disappointed because she had nothing during her exile, Lord Shri Krishna said that we will bring you such a golden flower which will be unique on this earth. After that, Lord Krishna went to Indra’s garden and plucked a branch of the Parijat tree with golden aura from there and transplanted it in village Baroliya. Mother Kunti first worshiped Shiva with the golden flowers of Parijat and Pandavas got victory in the war. Since then both Kunteshwar Dham and Dev Vriksha Parijat are maintaining their existence.
