Gaya’s Maa Mangalaguri temple is famous as ‘Palanpeeth’, every wish is fulfilled here.

It is believed that whoever comes to this temple and worships the Mother Goddess with true heart, the Mother becomes happy with that devotee and fulfills his wishes.

On the occasion of Navratri, huge crowd of devotees are gathering at every Devi places. In such a situation, the Shaktipeeth Maa Mangalagauri temple situated on Bhasmakoot mountain, at a short distance from Gaya city of Bihar, receives a rush of devotees from early morning. It is believed that the breast of Mother Sati had fallen here, due to which this Shaktipeeth is famous as ‘Palanhar Peeth’ or ‘Palanpeeth’.

According to mythological texts, when Lord Bhole Shankar was wandering restlessly in the three worlds carrying the burnt body of his wife Sati, to save the universe, Lord Vishnu cut the body of Mother Sati with his Sudarshan Chakra. In this sequence, pieces of the body of Mother Sati fell at various places in the country, which later came to be known as Shaktipeeth. Among the pieces that had fallen at these places, a piece of the breast had fallen on Bhasmkoot mountain in Gaya.

This mountain is called Bhasmakoot Mountain
Lakhan Baba alias Lal Baba, the priest of Mangalaguri Shaktipeeth, says that this mountain is called Bhasmakoot Mountain. This Shaktipeeth is considered similar to Maa Kamakhya Devi Shaktipeeth located in Kamrup, Assam.

According to Kalika Purana, Sati’s breast sphere in Gaya fell on the Bhasmakuta mountain and turned into two stones. Mother Mangalagauri resides daily in this stone breast mandala. People who touch the stone attain immortality and reside in Brahmalok. The specialty of this Shaktipeeth is that a person can perform his Shraddha rituals here during his lifetime.

Mother fulfills every wish
It is believed that whoever comes to this temple and worships the Mother Goddess with true heart, the Mother becomes happy with that devotee and fulfills his wishes. It is believed that Mother Mangala does not send any devotee who worships here empty handed. There is a crowd of devotees in this temple throughout the year. It is quite dark here in the sanctum sanctorum, but a lamp has been burning here for years. It is said that this lamp never extinguishes.

Not only the local people but also the foreigners come to this temple and worship Maa Mangala Gauri. To worship in Maa Mangala Gauri temple, devotees have to climb more than 100 stairs.

This temple is also mentioned in the Puranas.
Sanjay Giri, another priest of the temple, says that this temple is mentioned in Padma Purana, Vayu Purana, Agni Purana and other writings. This temple is also given importance in tantric works. In the Hindu sect, Shakti is considered to reside in this temple.

This temple also has Upa Shakti Peetha, which is considered to be a part of the body of Lord Shiva. The symbol of Shakti nutrition is worshiped in the form of a breast.
