Baba’s city Devkund Dham situated on the border of Arwal and Aurangabad district is very famous. Maharishi Chyavan made this place a penance and performed penance for years. Five hundred years ago, Baba Balpuri performed rigorous meditation in the ashram of Maharishi Chyawan and after performing Havan, he took Samadhi alive. Since then the fire of that pond is burning till today.

Lord Shri Ram himself had worshiped: The evidence of it being a mythological and ancient religious place is found in religious texts. According to religious texts and folklore, Brahmaputra Bhrigumuni was engrossed in penance on the banks of river Ganga for a long time. His wife Phoolotma lived with him. While the sage was going to take bath, a demon picked up his wife and started running away through the sky. Bhrigumuni made a divine arrow made of Kush and released it at the demon and the demon got injured and fell on the ground. Muni’s wife was pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful child who was named Chyavan. At the same time this mythological place was named Madhushravan. It is also said that due to the bleeding from Muni’s wife’s body during delivery, a pond was formed there. There is also a religious belief about this pond located in Madhushravan. According to popular belief, if a woman who does not have a child, takes bath in the pond with a true heart and worships Lord Shankar, then all her wishes are fulfilled. Not only this, bathing in this pond also cures other diseases including leprosy and skin diseases. According to popular belief, Maryada Purushottam Shri Ramchandra had also stopped here along with his wife Sita and worshiped Baba Madheshwarnath while going to Gaya to perform Paddaan. It is also mentioned here that in the month of Sawan, Shiva devotees arrive and perform Jalabhishek on Baba Madheshwarnath. Evidence of this is also found in Shiva Purana.

Many stories related to the pond: After taking bath in this holy lake, all the diseases related to the body are cured. The snake girls also observed Chhath Vrat by taking bath in this sacred lake. It is also said that if one observes Chhathvrat by taking bath in the pond with a true heart, one also gets the happiness of having a child. Along with this, other diseases including leprosy also get cured. In this holy lake, Maryada Purushottam Lord Ramchandra Ji Maharaj also took bath with his family and performed Jalabhishek on Baba Madheshwar Nath.
