Our Shivalaya: Our Mandareshwar Mahadev sits in the caves of Aravali, people of every religion come for darshan.
Mandareshwar Shivalaya in the Aravalli hills on the eastern edge of Banswara city is a center of deep faith. Situated in a cave in the mountains, this is the only pagoda in the city. President of Dutt Mandareshwar Seva Sansthan Trust, Premkant Joshi, says that this pagoda is years old. Earlier there was only a rough road to reach here. There was a forest around the temple. There was no electricity. With time now all the facilities including transportation have increased here. The style of singing Shiv Shankar’s Aarti here is also unique. A dargah of Muslim community is also situated near Shivling inside the temple. Therefore, people of all religions come to this temple for darshan.
Bharata Fair on Shivratri
Every year a fair is organized in Mandareshwar Shiva temple on Mahashivratri, in which thousands of Shiva devotees gather. In the month of Shravan, the tide of devotion to Shiva rises in the Kavad Yatra from Beneshwar to Mandareshwar. Many development works have been done here by the Trust for the convenience of the devotees and to promote religious tourism.
Ashutosh’s consecration in temples
Banswara. During the month of Shravan, which is celebrated as the worship of Bhole Bhandari Lord Ashutosh for a month, the praises of Lord Shiva have started resonating in the Shiva temples and the period of bhajan kirtan along with special aarti in the morning and evening has also started. Lord Bhole is being decorated attractively by the devotees and the temples have also been decorated with colorful lights.
For a month, the devotees of Bhole will perform penance by offering Bilva leaves along with Shiva mantras. There is enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the first Monday of Shravan month. Preparations for cleaning and decoration of the pagodas were finalized till late night on Sunday. Shiva devotees are taking charge of the arrangements in other temples including Vaneshwar Mahadev, Trimbakeshwar, Mandareshwar in the city. At the same time, the demand for Bel leaves and Dhatura flowers for Jalabhishek and worship has increased.
