Mota Mahadev Temple is from the time of Maurya period, the temple was renovated in 1780

Although the self-styled Motamahadev temple is said to be from the Maurya period, but in 1780, the kings of Sahanpur state renovated the temple. It is believed that all the wishes of those who perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in Mota Mahadev Temple are fulfilled. On Mahashivratri, lakhs of Shiva devotees who bring Ganga water and Kanwar from Haridwar proceed towards their destination only after offering water here.
Mahant Shashinath of Mota Mahadev Temple tells that centuries ago Shivalinga had appeared from the earth at that place. Raja Chatar Singh of Sahanpur princely state had done the work of giving a detailed look to the temple. There is also a temple of Bhairav Baba in the temple premises. After performing the Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, Shiva devotees get the stick put in by the priest Shashinath in the Bhairav Baba temple, which relieves the pain, pain and fatigue of the journey of the Shiva devotees. After bringing Ganga water and Kanwar from Haridwar, the first stop for Shiva devotees is Mota Mahadev Temple. On Mahashivratri, Shiva devotees coming from far away places proceed towards their destination only after offering water here.

The bottle of Ganges water becomes empty
While picking up Kanwar from Haridwar, Shiva devotees bring Ganga water in a separate bottle for the Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in the Motamahadev temple. On reaching Mota Mahadev Temple, the Kanwariyas perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva with Ganga water from the same bottle. It is believed that if a Shiva devotee goes ahead without offering water in the temple, then the Ganga water in that bottle dries up automatically.
