The group of temples in the kumaon region is situated on the ancient route of kedarnath & badrinath shrines. The main temple of the group is known as mrityunjay (मृत्युंजय) ‘vanquisher of death’ dedicated to lord shiva while the remaining temples belongs to bhairva (भैरव) and other gods. These structures were built in 11-12th a.d.
There are very beautiful gardens around the temples.
An oldest temple build in katuri Dynasty around 11 century. It is dedicated to lord siva (Mrityunjaya) .Mritunjaya it means one who conquered the death . Temple is build on the great Nagar style having four temples on corenar and main tample at center.
