Nagni Temple is located at Nurpur in Himachal Pradesh.It is a Temple that is dedicated to the Goddess of Snakes, Nagni.
The Temple dedicated to Goddess Nagni, who is the queen of vipers and poisonous snakes, is visited by thousands of devotees every Year. It is not just humans but snakes who visit here and pay their respect to the Goddess. For this reason, she is the Goddess of snakes.
The Nagni Temple is an enchanting shrine with a beautiful idol of the Goddess inside the sanctum.The idol of the Goddess stays inside, from which water secretly flows. This seems like a miracle because no water pipeline is found underneath.Even though there is no water source below the idol, it secretes water and thus is considered a powerful deity by the locals and those visiting the shrine.
There are many legends related to the Temple. Devotees believe that the water originates from where the Goddess resides. A snake bite can be cured by drinking this water and applying the mud in the Temple known as Shakkar Prasad,” can miraculously heal snake and scorpion bites.
Hence, those bitten by a snake often come to this Temple and drink water while applying the mud. These people also get cured fully, which is a miracle in itself.
The Nagni Mata fair are organised on every Saturday during Shravan Month and Bhadrapad Month of the Hindu calendar.
