Naxal Bhagawati Temple Nepal

The Naxal Bhagwati Bahal Temple is situated in Kathmandu Nepal and is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus to visit during the festival called Dashain. The temple is famous for reportedly housing an idol carved during the Lichchhavi (Licchavi) era. The roots of the temple dates back to 607 CE, when King Shankerdev built the current pagoda. He placed a replica of the original statue and initiated a 3 day long chariot procession now known as Khat Jatra on the day of Preta Chaturdashi (Caturdashi), to commemorate the ceremony.

The name Naxal can be spelled as Naksal, Naksāl, Naxala, Naksala or Naksāla, while Bhagwati can also be spelled as Bhagvati, Bhagawati, Bhagavati, Bhagabati, Bhagbati, Bhagavatī or Bhagawatī.
