The temple of Lord Shiva located in Patna Devkali of Badaun is the center of faith of the devotees. Apart from other deities, a Shivalinga is established in the temple of Lord Shiva, but eight Shivalingas of Lord Shiva are installed in this temple. This temple was established by Shukracharya, the patriarch of the demons. In the month of Sawan, lakhs of devotees come to this temple and bring Ganga water from Kachla Ghat of Ganga in Badaun and offer it to Lord Shiva. Shukracharya, the guru of Lanka’s husband Ravana, worshiped Lord Shiva for eight thousand years and after attaining Sanjeevani Vidya, he revived the demons many times during the war between gods and demons. At the same place in Shahjahanpur Kalan tehsil is the ancient Shiva temple of Patna Devkali. This temple has special significance for Shiva devotees in Saavan.

Patna Devkali Shiva Temple has the history of Mahabharata

The ancient shivalaya of village Patna Devkali, situated on the border of Shahjahanpur district, has been the center of faith of devotees since years. Every year in the month of Sawan, on Mahashivaratri, thousands of Shiva devotees come from far flung areas to perform Jalabhishek on the Shivling. A fair is also held here.

Situated on the border of the Badaun-Shahjahanpur districts, this ancient temple of Lord Shiva has been the center of faith of Shiva devotees since the Mahabharata period. Shiva devotees from many districts come here to have darshan of the holy Shivling. On Maha Shivratri, long queues of devotees start forming here at night itself. It is believed that Lord Shiva fulfills the wishes of his devotee if he prays here with a sincere heart.
