Description
The Ganesha Purana serves as one of the primary sources for the Ganapatya school. This
work finds mention in the Uttarakha a of Garuda Purana by the name Vinayaka Purana.
It is categorized as an Upapurana or minor Purana, The Ganesha Purana was first
revealed to Sage Vyasa by Lord Brahma. The Sage then related it to Bhrgu, and Bhrgu
to Somakanta, the King of Devanagara. It describes how the Supreme Lord, Ganesha,
assumes different avataras in the four yugas, has different vahanas, and wields different weapons.
