Sankata Devi Mandir Lucknow

This unique tradition is performed in Sankata Devi temple when the wish is fulfilled.

This temple of Sankata Devi Maa, situated in Rani Katra of Chowpatty, is the most unique in Lucknow. This is the form of the statue of Mata Kheer Bhawani present in Kashmir, who is also the family deity of many Kashmiris. The temple also has a hundreds of years old banyan tree and a big Shiva temple.

There are also 108 Shivalingas built on it. Hanumanji, Radha-Krishna, Bhairon Baba, Sai Baba are also present in the temple. It is said that the temple was established due to the efforts of Nawab Asifuddin Daulah’s treasurer who was from Kashmir. Due to the same nature of the mother, all the Kashmiri families of the city have attachment to this place.Here, there is a tradition of feeding Khove Prasad to women after their wishes are fulfilled. Devotees say that the facial expressions of the temple idol change three times a day. There is also a Kund Yagyashala in the temple, which is built on the lines of Kashi.
