Shiva Vishnu Temple, Victoria
Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple is said to be the largest temple in Southern hemisphere. Spread in a 15-acre land, the temple was constructed by Hindu Society of Victoria and was consecrated in 1994. The holy shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu and has a cultural and educational centre as well where activities associated with Hindu religion take place. The cultural centre comprises of a library, cultural displays and community functions, venues for residential seminars, a heritage museum, an educational facility, and a large industrial kitchen and dining hall. The library in the cultural centre has a collection of religious books, videos and many other media such as CDs, DVDs, etc., in English and several Indian languages. The museum on the other hand, has an extensive collection of paintings photographs and other artefacts, along with contemporary multimedia resources to showcase the various aspects of the Indian sub-continent and Hindu cultural heritage. There is also an in-house cafe that serves Indian delicacies. The temple also facilitates Yoga classes for more than a 5 years now for the physical and spiritual welfare of the devotees.
