Bajirao Peshwa had handed over this area to his confidant Govind Rao Kher and then Govind Rao Kher’s descendant Rani Lakshmi Bai built this temple.

He built Rangir Harsiddhi Mata Temple in Rahali, Singh Vahini Temple in Tikitoria and Vitthal Temple in Pandharpur. During this period, whenever she went to Rahli, she used to rest in Patna village near Dhana. It was here that he had a dream and built a Shiva temple and a stepwell in Patna village. Since then the village is known as Patneshwar Dham. This temple was constructed in the 17th century and is around 300 years old.
