Shri Siddheshwar Mahadev Mandir Siddhaur,Barabanki
Siddaur is adorned with the Siddheshwar Mahadev Temple, and a big fair is organised here every year on the occasion of Shivaratri in the months of December and January.
During the period of exile described in the Dwapar era Mahabharata, this Shivalinga established by the Pandavas had become invisible in the forest bushes. Later, Shri Harisharan ji, who was posted as Deputy Collector in Kashi Vishwanath, saw in his dream the forest of Sidhaur and this Shivalinga hidden in the bushes. After resigning, he reached Siddhaur and discovered this Shivalinga hidden in the bushes and after adopting sannyasa, he built a pavilion and started worshiping. Impressed by its importance and faith, Lord Mahatma Buddha (Siddhartha), the founder of Buddhism, preached religion to the people at this very place. On his instructions, the public got a grand temple built. Because it was established by Lord Siddhartha, this temple was named Siddheshwar and this place was named Siddhaur. There is a rush of devotees here on Monday and Friday, Lord Bhole Nath fulfills everyone’s wishes.
